Austin, Texas – November 8, 2013 – Two Downtown Georgetown businesses received statewide recognition from the Texas Downtown Association. All Things Kids was named winner of the Best Downtown Business category and El Monumento was the winner of the Best New Construction category of the 2013 Texas Downtown Association (TDA) Presidents Awards Program. Since 1998, the Awards Program has recognized more than 150 projects, events and people that make a difference in Texas downtowns.

The Best Downtown Business category recognizes an exceptional downtown business that positively promotes the downtown or commercial district as a destination for locals and tourists alike, and actively participates in the revitalization efforts and supports downtown promotional events. Judges thought All Things Kids was a great asset to the Georgetown Square and that the owners were instrumental in promoting downtown to residents and visitors. All Things Kids also won the People’s Choice Award in this category, which was based on votes cast on social media.

The Best New Construction category recognizes excellence in new construction in downtowns or commercial districts. Judges were very impressed with the design of El Monumento and appreciated its role in linking downtown to the San Gabriel River.

Winners were announced on November 7 at the Presidents Awards Gala held in conjunction with the 2013 Texas Downtown Development and Revitalization Conference in Bastrop.

The Texas Downtown Association, established in 1985, is an independent, statewide nonprofit organization comprised of almost 400 members involved in downtown revitalization projects. TDA provides resources to members through networking opportunities, marketing, education and advocacy to achieve community goals. To learn more, visit www.texasdowntown.org.
